BILLIONAIRE DREAMS OF BUILDING TITANIC REPLICA
Clive Palmer was reported to have been pulling off the stops to make his dream of building a replica of the most famous cruise ship in the world.
The original Titanic was launched on 31 May 1911, and set sail on 10 April 1912, according to National Ocean and Atmospheric Administrating. It’s said to have had about 2,240 passengers and crew on board.
Unfortunately, It landed at the bottom of the ocean after striking an iceberg. It fell apart as it went under the deep blue sea, taking with it more than 1,500 passengers and crew members. With only an estimated 700 people who survived the tragic accident, the Titanic was dubbed as the world’s most disastrous voyage.
During the recent press briefing, the Australian billionaire said he now has enough money to take on the project of building Titanic II. CNN reported that he first launched his plans to build the cruise ship more than a decade ago.
“I have more money now. I have been dreaming at night about the Titanic, laying awake so it can sail away at the Hudson River,” Palmer said. 7News Melbourne reported that if it makes it, the voyage is planned for June 2027.

MORE ABOUT THE CRUISE SHIP PLANS
The billionaire vowed that the vessel will be “far, far superior than the original”, The Guardian reported. Through the company Blue Star Line, Clive Palmer plans to construct the ship.
According to the publication, he has rubbished claims that his dream to build the Titanic replica is a publicity stunt, saying he has “enough money to build the Titanic 10 times over”.
It’s reported that the project was initially suspended in 2015 after a payment dispute. The second time around, Palmer claimed the plans were suspended due to the delay of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I’m gonna do it. It’s a lot more fun to do the Titanic than it is to sit at home and count my money,” the 69-year-old billionaire reportedly said at Wednesday’s briefing.
