Anni Dewani: Where is ‘wife killer’ Shrien Dewani now?
While Anni Dewani’s life tragically ended 13 years ago, the man allegedly behind her murder – Shrien Dewani – lives in the lap of luxury.
It’s been 13 long years since the senseless murder of Anni Dewani (nee Hindocha), the bride of British businessman Shrien Dewani.
But while the woman’s life came to a tragic end during her honeymoon in Cape Town in 2010, life has gone on for the man accused of orchestrating her death.

BRUTAL MURDER OF ANNI DEWANI
This week, the family of Anni Dewani remembered her life and death after she was brutally gunned down on 13 November 2010.
The incident occurred when couple were allegedly hijacked in their hired taxi while sightseeing in Gugulethu.
According to Shrien Dewani, who wed Anni just two weeks earlier, hijackers Mziwamadoda Qwabe, and Xolile Mngeni robbed him of valuables and forced both him and driver and tour guide Zola Tonga out of their moving vehicle.

The next day, Annie’s body – with a single gunshot wound to her neck – was found in the VW Sharan.
However, in court proceedings, all three men shocked the public when they claimed that they were hired as part of a premeditated murder plan by Shrien.
Today marks 13 years since Anni Dewani was brutally killed in Cape Town, South Africa.

Shrien Dewani – who had returned to the UK – was extradited to South Africa in 2014 and faced charges of orchestrating the kidnapping and murder of his bride.
However, he was acquitted of all charges due to a lack of evidence.
According to judge Jeanette Traverso, this was due to “many mistakes, lies and inconsistencies” in the allegations made by the three men against Dewani.

SHRIEN DEWANI: WHERE IS HE NOW?
After being acquitted of the murder of Anni, Shrien Dewani continued his life out of the spotlight.
In 2016, Shrien vehemently denied the allegations in a letter to a London coroner. He wrote:
“Each of the gang members did a deal with the authorities to gain either full immunity or vastly reduced sentences in return for providing evidence against me.
‘It is the evidence of these proven liars [suspects] that led to a witch hunt against me and the resulting failure to pursue the truth of what happened that night.
“This has allowed the individuals concerned to literally get away with murder.”.
In 2018, Shrien Dewani went public with his romance with male lover Brazilian-born photographer Gledison Lopez Martins. The couple travelled to India, where Shrien had married Anni years before.

Anni’s father Vinod Hindocha told MailOnline at the time: ‘He kept his gay secret from my daughter and from her family. How could he have had it in his heart to do that? It was an utter disgrace.
In 2020, Shrien was spotted out and about outside his luxury London apartment. He refused to comment on the then 10-year anniversary of Anni’s death, reports MailOnline. The publication adds that Shrien has also declined to divulge the real events in November 2010.
Dewani – who owns a nursing care home – has been active on social media via his blog and private Twitter account.
