Formerly a record held by the notorious California Reaper pepper, the X pepper has topped the Scoville Heat Units scale at more than 2, 5 million.

CHILI: X IS WORLD’S HOTTEST PEPPER
According to Guinness World Records, the X pepper has officially been named the world’s hottest pepper.
The previous record was held by the California Reaper, which produced enough heat units to cause severe burns and bleeding in sensitive people. Peppers that rank this high in heat units, often have to be handled with gloves and masks to prevent injury.

The new record holder pepper measures 2,693,000 on the Scoville Scale.
By comparison, green Tabasco sauce measures only around 600 to 1, 200 per bottle.
SIDE-EFFECTS OF CHILI
Chili is a great, sometimes essential recipe ingredient and spice.
For some people, chili can also have health benefits like less inflammation and an improved immune system due to its high vitamin content and additional good compounds.
Unfortunately, consuming too much of this spicy food can also cause ulcerations and bleeding according to Healthline.com. If you have heartburn or you’re at risk of an ulcer, peppers can make it worse.

PAQUI ONE CHIP CHALLENGE
At least one teenager’s family from Massachusetts are blaming the effects of hot peppers on their child’s death, according to Insidehook.com. The Paqui “one chip challenge” dares influencers to consume one of the hottest chips on camera – which have been reported to have adverse health effects for at least some sensitive users.
