Despite Pitso Mosimane having led Al Ahli back into the Pro League, the experienced coach officially left the Saudi club earlier this year, with a recent salary payment debacle fuelling exit talks.

After terminating his contract, Mosimane shared a classy message, expressing his “satisfaction for having achieved the difficult task of promoting the team back to the Saudi Pro League”.

He went on to thank the players and supporters in particular, but there is no doubt that he left the club with a sour taste in his mouth after allegedly going unpaid for six months.

The popular coach was quickly snapped up by Al Wahda FC, but will understandably take steps to try and recoup lost earnings at his former club.

According to reports from Saudi Arabia, Mosimane has sent a complaint to Fifa over six month’s unpaid salaries, as well as the fact that there was supposedly an automatic clause meant to extend his contract if he were to get Al-Ahli promoted from the Yelo League.

“According to the our sources, Pitso Mosimane explained in his complaint that the contract concluded with Al-Ahli is to be automatically extended in the second season without the need to sign new contracts or send an email with the desire of any party to stay in the event that the team succeeds in gaining promotion.” an Arriyadiyah report read.

“Which is what happened. They explained that the coach’s complaint also included that he did not receive six monthly salaries last season, and the promotion bonus.

“It is expected that the International Federation will address the Saudi Arabian club regarding it to clarify the reasons for terminating the South African’s contract.”

PITSO MOSIMANE EXPLAINED THE LACK OF PAYMENT BEFORE THE LEAVING THE CLUB

Recently, when speaking to an Arabian TV channel, Pitso confirmed his last salary payment was way back in January, while he also admitted that he felt he wasn’t afforded the desired influence at Al Ahli.

“I’m not the number one person in the team. The number one person in the team is the president. The number two person is the vice-president and I’m number three,” Mosimane said.

“I recommended the players, I gave them the players that can take us to promotion (but) they brought their own players. I saw (Nicolas) Milesi at training and (Vinicius) Amaral. I knew they were talking to him, but I suggested another player and suddenly I saw him (Amaral) in my office, and they said here is a new player, I said OK.”
