The Proteas women may have lost the Women’s T20 World Cup final to Australia but there was a heartwarming atmosphere accompanying the team when they arrived at the Cape Town City Hall on Monday.
The Mayor, along with Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith, Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture Nocawe Mafu, Cultural Affairs and Sport MEC Anroux Marais and Cricket South Africa representatives congratulated the team on their incredible run in the international cricket tournament.
The final game between the Proteas Women and Australia at Newlands Cricket Ground attracted the biggest crowd ever for a women’s cricket match in South Africa with 13 001 spectators.
