A former Orlando Pirates star has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 33.

Thandani Ntshumayelo will no longer be searching for a new club or accept offers, bringing to an end a career he kicked started in 2009.

Ntshumayelo played at the highest level for 14 years if one includes the time be spent on the sidelines due to a four-year ban imposed on him.

And that ban came in 2016 after he had tested positive for cocaine – but he spent two years on the sidelines as he successfully appealed the ban.

However, Ntshumayelo was never the same player after his return, and there was that lack of interest in him from the majority of clubs.

NTSHUMAYELO PLAYED FOR SOME BIG PSL SIDES

Ntshumayelo started off at SuperSport United in 2009 after years of development at the same club under Kwanele Kopo.

He spent three years at Matsatsantsa before joining Pirates in 2012 where he played until 2016 before being banned.

Upon his return in 2018, Ntshumayelo struggled to find a club until Baroka FC threw him a lifeline in 2019 although that stint wasn’t long.

The last PSL team he played for was Swallows FC, but even there, Ntshumayelo never really stayed and played long.
