Following a SPCA request for more information, the man who shared a picture of a cat with a knife to its head has published a social media apology.

As reported by The South African website, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA received a report of animal cruelty and had been searching for the man’s whereabouts for questioning.

The man, revealed to be Jayden Faans, took to his personal Facebook page late on Wednesday evening to post: “hi friends, family, and animal lovers. as you can see the cat is not hurt, perfectly fine and healthy. the picture i took on the 20th June was just for a meme. and i do understand it was a stupid joke. from the bottom of my heart, i do apologize to every single person out there whom i deeply offended. i hope you understand.”

If you are aware of any incident of animal cruelty, you are urged to urgently call (021) 7004158/9 or 083 3261 604.

Reports can be made anonymously and the SPCA will never reveal the name of a complainant.
