While the cause of her death, it’s clear from her final tweets that Nothing Compares 2 U hitmaker Sinead O’Connor was nursing a broken heart.
This following her son’s tragic suicide last year.
On Wednesday, 26 June, the singer’s death was announced in a statement from her family.

SINEAD O’CONNOR DIES AT 56
According to New York Post, the statement read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad.
“Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
In recent years, Sinead O’Connor struggled with many obstacles, including her mental health, traumatic childhood and four marriage splits.
The singer spoke about living with bipolar and her suicidal thoughts.
But the most tragic news came in January 2022 when her son Shane committed suicide at just 17 years old.
Following his death, Sinead tweeted: “I’ve decided to follow my son. There is no point living without him”. She was later hospitalised following attempting to take her own life.

HEARTBREAKING FINAL TWEETS
Sinead O’Connor – who converted to Islam in 2017 – posted a number of haunting tweets on her timeline.
Her final tweet was one in which she referenced her son’s untimely death. The Nothing Compares 2 U singer posted: “Been living as an undead night creature since [his death]. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves.
“He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him”. – Twitter

Sinead also posted links to songs that mirrored her state of mind. The song titles included: Here, But I’m Gone and How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?
In addition, Sinead posted a Tibetan chant with the caption: “For all mothers of suicided children.”
