“Our hearts are with the affected communities during this period.”
Mtolo
“Accordingly, we have mandated the MECs and the Mayor of eThekwini Municipality Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda to respond with a high sense of urgency and assist the affected families.
Strong winds have also raked some parts of Greater Durban area resulting in the damage of socio-economic infrastructure such as roads, electricity and water,” said Mtolo.

EXTREME WEATHER PATTERNS DISCUSSED
He added, “The ravaging tornado brings home the fact that extreme weather patterns continue to have devastating effects on KwaZulu-Natal and Durban in particular. The latest disaster comes few hours after the Alliance Political Council addressed the media and spelled out a clear programme of action”.
MTOLO RALLIES ALIGNED PARTY GROUPS FOR ASSISTANCE
Mtolo further said they have undertaken to mobilize all their structures, SACP, COSATU and ANC at local levels to come closer to communities during times of distress.
“We have agreed that the people of this province have placed their trust and faith in the ANC. As the alliance we offer not to let them down as we move forward.
“We commit to live up to the reputation the ANC, as the governing party, has carefully built over a century as a caring and compassionate movement deeply concerned about the upholding human rights and dignity of communities. Having a decent shelter is part of the restoration of the dignity of indigenous people.
“This is what we have mandated the provincial government and the municipality to speed up through the MECs and the Mayor. These are deployees of the movement assigned to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people,” Mtolo explained.
