At the time, parent company Unilever offered ‘low consumer demand and high inflationary importing costs’ as reasons for the discontinuation.

Eagled-eyed shoppers will have noticed jars of the popular spread on Pick n Pay shelves in recent days.

“When the local supplier delisted the product earlier this year, our customers were heartbroken. HELLMANN’S MAYONNAISE DATES BACK 118 YEARS

The mayonnaise was first made in New York by Richard Hellman in 1905.

At the time of its disappearance, Hellmann’s joined a lengthy list of discontinued products in South Africa.

Redro Fish Spread and Peck’s Anchovette, along with Cadbury’s Tempo, Chocolate Log, and Simba’s All-Gold Tomato Sauce Chips are all a thing of the past.
