Gauteng: Two killed in collision on the N12 in Fochville

Two people were killed when their light motor vehicle was involved in a collision with a bakkie on the N12 in Fochville.

The incident happened on Monday, 26 June.

TWO KILLED IN N12 COLLISION

According to emergency service ER24, they arrived on the scene at 19:24 to find the two wrecked vehicles on the side of the road.

On closer inspection, medics found the bodies of a man and woman lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle. Unfortunately, both patients had already succumbed to their numerous injuries and were later declared dead.

“The driver of the bakkie, fortunately, escaped injury. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” the emergency service said.

ANOTHER TWO KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT

In a separate incident, two people were killed following a collision between two trucks on the N2 Zinkwazi in KwaZulu-Natal.

The horrific accident happened in the early hours on Monday, 26 June.

According to the emergency service, IPSS Medical Rescue, medics arrived at the chaotic scene, with multiple injuries, and with some looting taking place in one of the trucks.

IPSS said reports from the scene were that a smaller truck was initially rear ended by another truck. The smaller truck went down an embankment, while the second truck veered into oncoming traffic resulting in a head-on collision with a third truck.

The driver and front passengers of the smaller truck were lucky to escape with minor injuries. Sadly the two passengers on the back of the truck sustained fatal injuries and were declared on scene.

The driver of one of the larger trucks sustained moderate injuries, and was transported to hospital by IPSS Medical Rescue.
