Nick Koster, who was born in Robertson, came through the Western Province rugby rankings, having made the WP Craven Week side in 2006 and 2007 when he was captain. He was also called up to feature for the South Africa Schools in both 2006 and 2007.
The talented loose forward would go on to make his Currie Cup debut for Province in 2008, while playing extensively for the Stormers and Western Province between 2008 and 2012.

He then headed overseas to play for Bath and Bristol, while later captaining the Cambridge University R.U.F.C. as his career wound down.
On Wednesday, news tragically came to light that the 34-year-old had passed away, with former Springbok assistant coach Gary Gold sharing his condolences among a host of other tributes that began to flood in.
“Absolutely devastated to hear the news of Nick’s passing,” Gold wrote on Twitter. “One of the best schoolboy rugby players to have ever played the game and an outstanding person and friend. You will be sorely missed Nick. RIP buddy!”
Koster’s cause of death is not known at this point.
