The police in Kuruman arrested a 34-year-old female and 52-year-old male for alleged shoplifting on Friday, 7 July.

FEMALE AND MALE SUSPECTS NABBED BEFORE ESCAPING

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said that the police responded to a shoplifting complaint at a well-known chain store in Kuruman and found the identified suspects still wandering around in the parking area of the chain store.

“The police approached the vehicle they were travelling with and searched it and found goods that the occupants could not provide proof of purchase for, which brought a reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing by the suspects,” he explained.

CULPRITS DUE IN KURUMAN COURT FOR SHOPLIFTING

He added that the police immediately arrested the suspects and seized the stolen goods as well as the vehicle utilised in the commission of a crime, all valued at approximately R184 000 -00.

He further confirmed that the male suspect was charged for possession of suspected stolen property and the female for shoplifting.

“Both will appear in the Kuruman Magistrate Court soon.”

“The SAPS will leave no stone unturned for perpetrators of crime and consider shoplifting as a serious offence as it contributes to the economy of the country,” he vowed.

Meanwhile, a Zimbabwean musician, who goes by the name Platinum Prince, has made headlines after allegedly being implicated in a hijacking incident in South Africa.

It is reported that Platinum Prince, popular in the Zimbabwean dancehall culture in Harare, was nabbed after he attempted to hijack a diesel tanker in the country.

It is also reported that the botched hijacking was performed alongside an accomplice who was also nabbed, and both “paid” for their wrongdoing.
iHarare reports that Platinum Prince was ruthlessly beaten to a pulp after being caught red-handed.

It is unclear which part of the country where the incident occurred. But what is known is that the intervention by those who discovered the unfolding crime escalated the situation into a merciless confrontation, leaving the artist battered and bruised, iHarare elaborated.
