AlphaTauri confirmed that Daniel Ricciardo would replace Nyck de Vries at the team ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
AlphaTauri is Red Bull’s sister team and Ricciardo is on loan until the rest of the season.
According to reports, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko was not happy with de Vries’s performance after the Dutchman failed to finish in the top 10 in all his races so far this season.
“We have to look to the future, but we are evaluating his performance and if necessary, decisions will be made,” Marko said a few months ago.

RICCIARDO BACK ON THE GRID
This week, it was announced that the 28-year-old driver, who’s in his first full F1 season, was given the red card by Red Bull. Team Principal Christian Horner says he’s looking forward to seeing Ricciardo race after the Australian lapped for the team at a Silverstone Pirelli test on Tuesday.

“It was great to see Daniel hasn’t lost any form while away from racing,” said Horner.
“His times during the tyre test were extremely competitive. It was a very impressive drive and we are excited to see what the rest of the season brings for Daniel on loan at Scuderia AlphaTauri.”
AlphaTauri Team Principal Franz Tost said his team would “profit” from Ricciardo’s experience, after a tough start to the season.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Daniel back into the team,” said Tost on F1 page. “There’s no doubt about his driving skills, and he already knows many of us, so his integration will be easy and straight forward.
“The team will also profit a lot from his experience, as he is an eight-time Formula 1 Grand Prix winner. I would like to thank Nyck for his valuable contribution during his time with Scuderia AlphaTauri and I wish him all the best for the future.”
