Dricus du Plessis, who is one of the most famed South African representatives in the UFC, took on Aussie UFC legend Robert Whittaker in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The South African fighter is undefeated in the UFC (now 6-0), and was targeting what would be yet another huge win in his career, which he duly achieved in fine style.

As is turned out, Du Plessis rose to the occasion once again as he delivered a series of brutal blows to earn himself a stunning victory.

The bout was watched by former US president Donald Trump, who Du Plessis greeted afterwards during his celebrations.

Although Du Plessis was seen as the underdog by many UFC fans, he had predicted prior to this fight that both he and the Springboks would achieve victory over Australian opponents, which they duly did.

“With 100% of my being, I believe that we will go 2-0 against Australia… It will be a clean sweep for the Springboks and the green and gold,” he said in an interview with SuperSport last week.
