The 31-year old signed for Amakhosi from Stellenbosch FC in July 2021.
On the occasions he turned out in the Gold & Black, his effort and commitment were never questioned by supporters, among whom he was a popular player, the club said in a statement on Thursday.
The Limpopo-born midfielder however, saw his second season at Naturena blighted by injuries which curtailed Arthur Zwane’s ability to make regular use of his considerable talent.
“On behalf of everyone at the Club, I would like to thank Phathu for his contribution to Kaizer Chiefs over the past two years,” says Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. “It is a pity that injuries prevented him from playing regularly, as I am sure his undoubted quality would have added value to the team. We wish him success in his future endeavours,” Chiefs said.
