Cape Town water supply disruption Monday to Saturday: These areas will be affected

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will perform planned maintenance on infrastructure in several areas from Monday, 29 May, to Saturday, 3 June.

PLANNED INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES AND REPAIRS FOR CAPE TOWN AREAS

Maintenance will primarily involve pipe and valve installations, repairs, and replacements. The following areas will be affected:

Westlake Industrial areas

A faulty control valve on the water supply main to the reservoir supplying water to the Westlake industrial area will be replaced.

The pipeline will be shut off from 9:00 on Monday until 11:00 Tuesday. “Alternate water supply will be rerouted to this area, and consumers may experience lower than usual water pressure during this period,” said the City.

High-lying parts of Khayelitsha, Mitchells Plain, Mandalay right up to Bay View

On Tuesday, 30 May 2023, there will be a dummy shut-off on the 1220 mm diameter water supply main to the mentioned areas from 09:00 until 16:00.

This is in preparation for the shut-off scheduled from 09:00 until 20:00 on Saturday, 3 June 2023.

The shut-off will enable the maintenance team to replace a leaking coupling on the pipeline. Alternate water supply will be rerouted to the affected areas during the operation, and residents may experience lower than usual water pressure.
