CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING JAN OBERHOLZER’S EXIT
The resignation of CEO Andre De Ruyter and the saga surrounding it may lead many to believe there is more to Jan Oberholzer’s departure than the power utility is letting on, but only time will really tell.
“Mr Oberholzer was on a fixed-term contract to provide support to the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station long-term operation (LTO) and Kusile Power Station projects. Eskom expresses gratitude to Mr Jan Oberholzer for his dedicated service, expertise and valuable contributions during his tenure, We wish him well in his future endeavours”

NEW ESKOM CEO TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON
The latest departure comes as the power supplier is already going through what many deem a leadership crisis following De Ruyter’s exit. The parastatal is expected to announce its new CEO pretty soon. Its former CFO Calib Cassim is its Interim Group CEO until then.
De Ruyter has been vocal about what drove him to resign, having revealed the extent of corruption plaguing Eskom. He released his book Truth to Power in May 2023, which shed light on some explosive allegations he first made during an interview with eNCA.
