The DA has welcomed the latest announcement from IPID that the blue light bullies who were involved in assaulting unarmed civilians in early July were processed at Sandton Police Station on Sunday and will appear in Randburg Magistrate’s Court today.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesman Robbie Raburabu confirmed that the eight cops would be processed at Sandton Police Station on Sunday.
According to Shadow Minister of Police Andrew Whitfield, the Blue Light Bullies must now be treated like all other violent criminals following this violent and unprovoked attack. The criminal justice system must perform its duties without fear or favour said Whitfield.
“We will monitor the case very closely, as it signifies the importance of holding those in positions of power accountable for their actions. The safety and well-being of our citizens should never be compromised, and we trust that the legal process will ensure that justice prevails for the victims and their families and we must condemn any abuse of power and continue to work towards a just and fair South Africa for all” said Whitfield.
