Most people pray for money to just magically appear in their accounts. The only problem is that this never happens and when it does, it was probably a mistake that needs to be rectified. A young Eastern Cape employee refused to accept this reality and has now been arrested for refusing to return R150 000 that was accidentally deposited into her account.
According to reports, the 28-year-old bank employee decided to transfer the money from her current account to her savings account to avoid a transaction reversal.

BANK WORKER ARRESTED AFTER REFUSING TO RETURN ACCIDENTAL R150K DEPOSIT
Mthatha resident Aaliya Govender was reportedly released on R5000 bail after she refused to send back R150 000 that was accidentally deposited into her account.
Aaliya, who is a bank employee was arrested by Mthatha-based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation of the Hawks and charged with theft.

This after she refused to return R150 000 which was accidentally sent to her account by a woman who is also a bank employee.
In an attempt to stop the money from being reversed, Aaliya allegedly transferred it to her savings account and started spending it.
FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS AHEAD
“The complainant made numerous efforts to reverse the transaction without success. The suspect then allegedly transferred the money to her savings account for personal use,” Provincial Hawks spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela explained in a SAPS statement.

The statement also goes on to state that the complainant lodged a complaint at Ngangelizwe Community Service Centre.
This was later transferred to Mthatha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation of the Hawks for extensive probing which led to the arrest on 19 July 2023.
The case has been postponed to August 21 for further investigation.
