Despite hectic winds and cold conditions, the Noordhoek community had a strong turn-out for their Peace Walk on Sunday evening. Residents gathered to walk for a safer beach environment, following attacks on the beach… including the brutal attack on Austrian tourists – Klaus (63) and Johanna (68) Michl – who were hospitalised a couple of weeks ago after being stabbed multiple times by a knife-wielding man.
Neighbourhood Watch member Penny van Zyl told SAPeople: “I got messages from about 60 people saying they could not cope with the wind, so they were with us in spirit… and spirits were high amongst the group who walked.
“We sent love and light to the Michls and the other families who have been mugged on the beach over the past few months.
“We sprinkled lots of love, peace and harmony as we walked along what must be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
“We even had a group of tourists joining our walk yesterday – loved their positive vibe; and the hectic South Easter did not phase them at all!”
The Neighbourhood Watch consists of a group of incredibly dedicated and self sacrificing volunteers who love their community.
Another Peace Walk will be planned for after New Year.
