WATCH Classic South African ‘Zero Bucks’ Ad Goes Viral

South Africans always make the best commercials, and the latest ‘Zero Bucks’ ad from Showmax is one of the classics… going viral with over 330,000 views in just a couple of weeks.

One Capetonian viewer Chris Mackerdush wrote on YouTube: “Guys this ad is f..king outstanding. I’m in the ad industry and cynical as a bastard but this commercial is a thing of beauty and a fountain of joy. Who directed it please? The casting, the performances, the soundtrack, the copy line tying it all up – flawless.”

The ad – which was conceived in-house and directed by Nare Mokgotho of Massif production house in Johannesburg – was created to announce the launch of a deal with Vodacom featuring three months of free access to the Showmax video on demand service and three months of free Showmax data in South Africa.

The deal is exclusive to Vodacom customers who add Showmax to their bill between 1 November 2018 and 31 January 2019 – you will receive 15 GB of free Showmax data* (5 GB per month for three months).
