Nineteen-year-old KwaZulu-Natal surfer Shane Sykes has won the Volcom South Africa’s TCT ‘Rhinofish’ video trails with this 1-minute video which he not only surfed in, but edited himself.
The competition was open to South African surfers under the age of 20 and was voted for by the public.
The Salt Rock teenager has won a trip to California to compete for $30,000 in Volcom’s 2016 global championships in mid-June where he’ll ride the legendary Lower Trestles.
Shane told ZigZag surf magazine: “I’m so stoked on the win and psyched to be going back to California. I can’t wait to surf Trestles with only three other people in the water, this really is a dream come true.”
