A whale mother and her calf were captured on film this morning, swimming along KwaZulu-Natal’s Dolphin Coast in South Africa, north of tourism destination Durban.
Like all moms and their kids, it’s so beautiful to watch them together as the little one races ahead, and mom keeps the calf safely in her vision.
The beautiful drone footage was taken by 13-year-old Oliver Armstrong from KZN. A family friend who sent the video to SAPeople said: “Such a privilege to see… thank you Oliver..????????”

Marine conservation photographer Jean Tresfon said: “With all the bad news and negativity in the media, especially when it comes to the state of our marine resources, it’s great to be able to share something rather more uplifting…”
