A Johannesburg dog that had been missing for 200 days and was searched for ceaselessly since then has been found by, and reunited with, his owners in a pretty emotional reunion.

The beagle named Lu apparently got loose in July 2015. He didn’t have a collar on at the time and wasn’t microchipped, so his owners put up flyers and started a Facebook page to try find him.
According to a news report, the family compiled a list of over 200 vets they contacted, placed an ad in a local newspaper, started operation “bring Lu Beagle back” on Facebook and even offered a reward of R5,000. In the meantime, they adopted two other rescued beagles “in honour of Lu”.
On 16 February – seven months later – a post by the Roodepoort SPCA was spotted by a friend, which started a chain of responses among supporters. “The likeness was uncanny,” co-owner Lorin Leuci was quoted saying. The next day they were at the Roodepoort facility – and the rest is good news!
Said Leuci on Facebook afterwards, “A moment I’ll never forget. This is the good you all contributed to. Surreal. Unknown recording of the moment this became the best day Ever.”
