South Africa’s beloved My Octopus Teacher won one of the most coveted prizes at the BAFTA Film Awards 2021 in London on Sunday… scooping the Best Documentary prize at the British Academy Film Awards.
Watch below as the Seachange team excitedly – and tearfully – accept the honour. Co-Director Pippa Ehrlich said the team had gone on a long road together and winning this award was “so incredible, thank you very much.”
She thanked Craig Foster “who shared his story with such an open heart and such vulnerability”, but kept the biggest thank you for “the very special little octopus who has opened hearts all over the world, to the natural world and the great African sea forests; and at this time in history I think that’s really what we need more than anything else, so thank you, thank you, thank you.”
