Across the world people have been divided in their views of the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, which DStv aired in South Africa last night. But here’s a video everyone’s sure to enjoy – Black Wendy’s spoof of the interview.
The Black Wendy Channel is created and hosted by South African actor and content creator Wendy Gumede. She describes it as “a satirical channel that offers a refreshing distraction from what is happening in the world; but maintains relevance in also addressing those issues.”
To make sure nobody takes the spoof too seriously, Wendy captioned it with hashtags including: #ThisIsSatire #MeaningNoneOfThisIsReal
Of her Meghan and Oprah voice over, Wendy says: “I intentionally didn’t make the VO about the actual contents of the real interview because I felt like everything that was shared should be handled with care and consideration. I’m a comedian but I’d never make fun of someone else’s vulnerability. I’d never mock their courage.”
