The Drakensberg Boys Choir has done it again – creating an amazing production in a setting as iconic as the KwaZulu-Natal boys’ choir itself. This time the choir is singing a cover of Butter by South Korean boy band BTS (Bangtan Boys) who happen to be the favourite group of another South African icon, Trevor Noah.
The Drakensberg Boys Choir have done an incredible rendition of Butter, that Trevor’s sure to love. The video only dropped at 9am this morning (Friday), and is breathtaking – with fantastic choreography and sweeping views of Umhlanga’s famous Whalebone Pier, its iconic Umhlanga Rocks Lighthouse and the Indian Ocean.
The choir’s English teacher, Pamela Couzyn, told SAPeople (from a cold Central Berg where the school is based): “The boys chosen to do the video were very excited as they got to spend two nights in Durban after exams. (Kind of a mini-holiday in itself!) Finally it feels as if we are going back to normal with no masks, full-capacity audiences being allowed and the boys get to do what they love best. Sing all over the country and beyond the borders of South Africa. Long may this continue! It even makes me feel a little less violent when the lights go out.??”
