American President Donald Trump on Monday offered US medical help to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was last night – at around 19h00 local time – moved into intensive care at a London hospital, where he is suffering from Coronavirus.
President Trump said he had asked four US medical companies to contact London to offer help. He said a couple of those have already had meetings with the British PM’s doctors, and have the medical supplies with them should they be needed.
Trump said Boris Johnson is a good friend of his, and of the USA’s, and that he is “an incredible guy”.
A spokesperson for No. 10 Downing Street said last night that the 55-year-old Prime Minister is receiving “excellent care” at St Thomas’ Hospital where he was admitted after suffering “persistent symptoms of coronavirus”.
The spokesperson said: “Over the course of (Monday) afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.”
According to the BBC on Tuesday, Johnson was given oxygen last night to help him breathe, but he has not been placed on a ventilator. He remains in intensive care.
