WATCH 2 Talented South African Expats Meet Up In New York for Carpool Karaoke

Two talented South African expats got together in New York to film their own ‘Carpool Karaoke’ and perform a beautiful rendition of ‘Bad at Love’.

Singer and entertainment reporter Lyla Illing, who’s based in New York, said: “I got into this stranger’s car at Grand Central, and the rest is history…”

The guy was not exactly a stranger, but well known SA actor and model Edwin Gagiano, who relocated to Los Angeles in 2015.

“Remember the guy from the Toyota Aygo advert who pretends to own the car so that he could get attention from girls passing by?” says Lyla. “Well, he called to let me know that he was in town and picked me up in his (own) car (he swears it’s his but I still had my doubts!)

“He tortured me in New York traffic for 3 odd hours… And now I know why my mom warned me not to get into cars with strangers. Such a fun day!”

This video was filmed in West Manhattan as part of Edwin’s ‘Roadrage Karaoke’ project, travelling across the US and performing casual covers with artists that deserve exposure.
