There has been an outpouring of love and goodies for widowed father of four, Samuel Nyonane, who captured South Africans’ hearts when he was photographed holding his twin babies whilst shopping in Cradlestone Mall on the West Rand, Gauteng.
A fellow shopper and special angel – Alett Van Zyl – who has suffered her own tragedies, took the time to ask him how come he was carrying his twin girls and shopping alone. She then posted photos and a message that went viral, and South Africa’s wonderful Angel Network SA came on board to help.
On Monday evening, the Angel Network published an update.
They said:
Today we received requests that have left us reeling, too much tragedy and sadness… And then we met a real man amongst men. Samuel Nyonane, a widower since his wife passed away giving birth to his precious twin girls 5 weeks ago, leaving him with sons of 3 and 6 and 2 new born baby girls.
To say his life has been turned upside down would be an understatement but due to the outpouring of love by South Africans from all walks of life, Samuel will receive all the support he so desperately needs.
This is what Samuel has received:
- R50 000 from members of The Angel Network
- R5 000 for 10 months from an anonymous donor
- R3 000 for 10 months from Dis-Chem Pharmacies
- R10 000 worth of nappies from Cuddles Nappies
- R20 000 vouchers from Cradlestone Mall
- Sponsored carers for 12 months from Moms&Friends – Lauren Manzo
- An enormous collection of clothing, formulae, nappies, 2 bicycles, toys, and furniture from Beanies for Beings – Megan Botha
- A massive box of much needed baby supplies from Bennetts – Kim Fleiser Goldblum
- Massive support from his employer of 17 years Avianto Wedding Venue
And this is all thanks to the kindness of a stranger.
The Angel Network said: “Had Alett Van Zyl not stopped to see Samuel’s gorgeous twin girls 2 weeks ago and asked where their mommy was, who knows where they’d be today.
“Alett the world is a far better place because of people like you. Thank you for giving us all the opportunity to help this special man and his 4 beautiful children…”
Alett told SAPeople on Tuesday morning how “wonderful” it was on Monday night to meet up with Sam and all the kind people – like Glynne Goldberg Wolman from Angel Network and Megan Botha from Beanies for Beings (“the very first person to help me with HUGE donations from her group”) – who responded to her post.
“One lady gave R10,000 cash into Sam’s account and another lady gave R5,000, and she will be giving that to Sam monthly till December 2020. And yesterday I met Lauren Manzo from Moms&Friends – o m w, her ladies on her group are paying monthly for 12 months, for a day nanny 7 days a week and a night nanny 3 days a week. Is that not incredible!!!??????❤❤❤.”
Alett says: “There are not enough words to describe how happy this all makes me. I believe that God had something in mind for me and Sam. I am so grateful for that…”
