Airline passengers travelling to and from Cape Town have been enjoying the rare and beautiful sight of snow in sunny South Africa, on the mountains of the Western Cape… even though it’s been exactly two weeks since South Africa received a record-breaking snowfall, the biggest the country has received in a decade.
This morning regular SAPeople contributor Stan Sanetra, travelling for business from Cape Town International Airport to OR Tambo International in Johannesburg, captured the following photo.
“What a nice sight – snow on the mountains and a much fuller-looking Theewaterskloof Dam (38%) on the right. Taken Monday morning… ☃❄”
A few days ago, Stewart Walker – flying from Cape Town to Durban for a holiday – captured these scenic shots of the snow over the Matroosberge, with Ceres in the background.
Last weekend, parts of South Africa looked more like Europe than Africa, as families headed to the snowy slopes for fun in the sun and snow!
Stan Sanetra took these awesome photos. “It was a beautiful day in the Matroosberg Mountain Reserve,” he says.
