South Africans around the country (and world) answered President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call to take up the Jerusalema dance challenge for Heritage Day on Thursday. Here are just three of the many, many videos posted by wonderful, proud and fun-loving South Africans. For different reasons, these three are amongst the best…
WATCH Woodside Sanctuary’s Perfectly Imperfect Jerusalema Dance
Woodside Sanctuary, a home for about 90 people with “profound intellectual disabilities”, said its residents and staff were “beyond proud to present our perfectly imperfect take on the Jeruselema Challenge”. They said: “Hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.? #jerusalemachallenge #proudlysouthafrican #inclusion”
Board member Georg Knoke said: “This made my day! The #jerusalemachallenge… performed by amazing dedicated staff and residents! Just experience the joy of everyone!” (Watch the full video on FB here.)

WATCH The Presidency Team Dance
Even though the President urged South Africans to take on the Jerusalema Dance Challenge, he didn’t take it on himself… but his team did (with a little professional help!). Ramaphosa thanked musicians Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode “for giving the world such a special and proudly South African moment”.
I did not want to upstage the team at @PresidencyZA with my dance moves, but job well done! Thank you all for participating so enthusiastically in the #JerusalemaChallenge. @MasterKGSA & @NomceboZikode thank you for giving the world such a special & proudly South African moment. pic.twitter.com/MXXqR6HOSH

WATCH The Incredible Precision of the Road Traffic Management Corporation
If social media users get to choose, this video is a winner. The Road Traffic Management Corporation outdid themselves to make this perfect, ensuring it was “The Best Or Nothing (NTP)”.

Carte Blanche, which recently had an exclusive interview with Master KG, describes Jerusalema as the Covid-19 theme song. Many South Africans have rejoiced that it is an SA song that has got the world dancing again after the long months of Covid lockdowns. You can watch the interview if you’re overseas on Showmax International.
