Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One kicked off in Rome yesterday with the global premiere at one of the most iconic symbols of the eternal city – the historic Spanish Steps monument.
Critics are hailing the movie as another winner from Tom Cruise – brilliant with phenomenal production… which makes us even more excited for the sequel, which was filmed in South Africa and is sure to showcase the country’s breathtaking landscapes. But that will only be released next year (28 June 2024).
Right now all eyes are on M:I – Dead Reckoning Part One. It had its premiere at the Auditorium della Conciliazione, not too far from the Vatican. The crowd were elated, yelling ‘Bravo Tom’… although they had to wait over an hour and a half for the Hollywood star who loves Hoedspruit! The 60-year-old actor apparently had an “impromptu meeting” with Italy’s prime minister. The spy action movie was filmed in Italy, as well as Norway, the UK and the United Arab Emirates.
Cruise was welcomed to the red carpet with a performance by the top secret Drum Corps, as featured in the score of M:I – Dead Reckoning Part One.
The latest instalment in the Mission Impossible blockbuster series centres around Ethan Hunt and his team trying to track down a frightening new weapon that threatens humanity. Cruise stars alongside Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis,m Frederick Schmidt and Cary Elwes.
Chris McQuarrie is the incredible director, producer and co-screenwriter (with Erik Jendresen). Music is by Lorne Balfe again.
The film will be in South African cinemas on 14 July 2023. (And we’ll have to waitthe sequel, filmed in SA, will land on 28 June 2024.)
