Durban resident Greg Hall has taken to social media to thank a very special security guard who went the extra distance to watch over Greg’s car to ensure it was safe from opportunist thieves.
Greg wrote on Facebook: “While I sat and watched a movie at Gateway for 3 hours, this man sat and watched my car because I left my window down – with my laptop, clothes and camping gear all in the car.”
He gave up a “big up” to the security guard, named Lawrence, and said “you are a noble, honest and humble person and I thank you!”
Greg had left his window open by mistake – “my mind was pretty preoccupied that night with other things”. Fortunately Lawrence’s mind was not!
Several South Africans have reacted to his post, with Sue Quattrocchi summing up the common sentiment: “Above & beyond his regular duties! We need more people of this caliber!!”
