Thank You Joyce plus Nurses Everywhere. You Make Us Rejoice!

As we all know, there are so many fantastic, wonderful South Africans who don’t make it into the news… but sometimes we can forget when the headlines are dominated by the corrupt and criminal. So here’s a shout out to some awesome South Africans:

From Bridget Reynolds in Gauteng:

“I was at the cinemas at Rosebank Mall last night and left my cell phone in the ladies’ toilets after the movie.  I realised after about 10 minutes of leaving and went back with a heavy heart to see if it was still there.

“This wonderful lady Joyce Tshipotha had already handed my phone in. I am so appreciative. Another reminder of the truly good people we have in this country.”

From Lynne Keene, owner of The Model Company, Kloofzicht Estate Country Guesthouse and Things I Love:

“I’ve just had the incredible privilege of spending two days in hospital. [Kingsbury in Cape Town.]

“In order to care for me, a battalion of nurses got up at 5 every morning to organise their homes and families, use 2-3 modes of transport in rainy cold weather, to ensure that my every need was met, with respect, skill and compassion, warmth and a bright smile.

“After working all day, they again brave the weather and transport to arrive home 8-8:30 in the same darkness they left in. One nurse has a 4-month-old baby in Durban as the apartment block she lives in, does not allow children.

“How these nurses still find the energy to give so much to patients and their work, simply blows me away!

“I bow down.”
