Thirty-five tournaments, 1000 points and 200 tries… salute Seabelo Senatla on day one of the Cape Town Sevens on Saturday.

After dotting down three times in the Blitzboks’ Pool A 40-5 win over Russia, Senatla scored the second last try of the 31-5 victory over France at a windswept Cape Town Stadium.

It was Kwagga Smith who opened the scoring for the locals after a half that saw France holding their own in the opening stages.

It took big Ruhan Nel who finally broke out and blasted ahead before Smith broke the deadlock.

The French then hit back for an unconverted try after some miscommunication in the Bok defensive set-up but a failed conversion saw the Blitzboks lead 7-5 at the break.

The second half saw South Africa putting the power on with skipper Philip Snyman going round the outside down the right to make it 14-7.

And then it was big Chris Dry who burst through after yet another crafty kid from the mercurial Justin Geduld.

Just over a minute out from the hooter and it was again Geduld in the action as he broke down the left and unlocked Senatla who scorched down the left to go over untouched.

Nel then went over for a second score to seal a convincing win.

The Blitzboks now play fellow Africans Kenya in their final Pool A match of the day at 7.56pm.
