After last week’s 20-26 loss to Ireland in the first of three Tests, the Springboks outwitted and outscored the Irish today with four tries to two, and a final score of 32-26.

It was an incredible finish when just twelve minutes before the final whistle South Africa had been trailing 15-26.

South African Rugby tweeted: “Congratulations to the boys making Emirates Airline Park a happy place, beating @IrishRugby 32-26 #LoveRugby.”

New Boks coach Allister Coetzee faced a lot of criticism after last week’s loss, but only made two changes for this second match. It paid off.

During the first quarter of the match SA had good possession but there were many handling errors and by half-time the Springboks were booed off the pitch.

Unforced errors continued into the second half but newcomer Ruan Combrinck (replacement wing) brought new energy and helped set up good play, including creating a try for fellow Lions player – and replacement number eight – Warren Whitely.

Combrinck was unsurprisingly awarded Man of the Match.

Ireland will still be hoping to win next weekend in Port Elizabeth and make history with their first series win in SA… but it looks like the Boks are Back!
