A kind-hearted South African who recently won R10,000 in an SPCA lottery competition has donated the prize money back for the animals.
The SPCA said Lauren Moore was “thrilled” when they called to let her know she was the winner of January’s Tails Up Club Lottery.
”But what she said next caught us by surprise – she expressed her desire to donate the prize money back to the Cape of Good Hope SPCA!”
The SPCA said: “Lauren and her family are true animal lovers, and they have been rescuing dogs and cats for many years. She firmly believes that rescue pets make the best pets ever, and we couldn’t agree more.
“We admire her compassion and dedication to our furry friends, and we’re honoured that she respects the Cape of Good Hope SPCA for the work we do.”
They said stories like Lauren’s remind them why they do what they do.
“It’s heartening to see that our efforts are appreciated and inspire people to give back. We’re grateful for the support we receive from the community, and we hope to continue making a positive impact on the lives of animals in need.”
For Lauren’s part, she says there are few things better in this world than adopting a pet from a rescue organisation.
“We have never known such pure, unconditional love and devotion than what we have experienced from our two adopted dogs and four adopted cats,” says Lauren.
“It’s like they know they are getting a second chance at life, and don’t want you to forget how grateful they are.”
Lauren adds: “We will always be grateful to organisations like the SPCA who care for these animals until the right owner comes along.”
Lauren’s heartwarming story has touched South Africans nationwide. “What a beautiful, kind soul Lauren is,” said one social media user. “I pray for many blessings to the SPCA for all that you do. You guys are animal heroes. ❤”
