No matter where they now live, South Africans around the world will be united at 5 pm South African time this evening…to watch their national team, the Springboks, take on Wales in the Rugby World Cup quarter finals at Twickenham in London.
Here’s a round-up of pics, messages and venues from around the world…
FRANCE
From the Blue Lady in Antibes to Cafe Oz in Paris, there are venues all over France offering this afternoon’s match. If you’re in Paris, try this link to find a venue near you (and change Paris to your town’s name if you’re outside Paris):

ANDORRA
Head to Quo Vadis, Arinsal, for a festive #Bok atmosphere with Kevin (from Scottburgh) and the team.
CYPRUS
Amy Griffin (now Watts) from Howick – “Here is my 7-month-old son supporting our boys. We now live in Cyprus but our hearts will always be under the copper sun in Africa. A BIG shout out to Habana as well to score those tries and get the record!”
USA
Barry Hyman Bass, Minneapolis – “Today is a moerse important day for us all. If you saw the game in Cardiff last year you will agree with me. If we lose, we lose and the best man won. If we win then every South African can be proud and then hope to see us at the finals. If we win the cup it will be a day in history. No matter what the outcome. We support our team and stand by them.
“I will be with many South Africans – here in Minneapolis – to see history in the making. The Taffys are no push over. They know the importance of the outcome. Their nation is also watching with bated breath…”
How to Watch the RWC if You’re in the USA…
Bill van Wyk in Houston – “In the USA there is only one licensed provider for commercial screening of the RWC and that is Premium sports – http://www.premiumsports.tv/ – if you go into their website there is an Orange tab on their tool bar WHERE TO WATCH. Click on that and fill in your ZIP code & it will list venues close by that are showing the game, if any. Universal sports are the official broadcasters here in the USA and offer PAY to View options for RWC although it’s very expensive.”
CANADA
Johann Malan – “We’ll be at our regular venue here in Saskatoon on Saturday morning at 9 – Fionn MacCool’s, an Irish pub. It’s been great to get together there for the matches as South Africans. OK, it was very painful after the first game, but our spirits are getting stronger (no, not the liquid spirits). Best wishes…and Go Bokke!”
PORTUGAL
Voni Ribeiro, who’ll be watching at one of the local bars in Portugal – “Rugby fever in a household of women! Go Bokke!”
AUSTRALIA
Venues all over Australia are broadcasting the match. If you’re in Perth, get together with some other South Africans at the Game Sports Bar, 90 Aberdeen Street.

SOUTH AFRICA
Not hard to find a venue or a fellow South African to watch the game with here! Mike Hawkins will be watching at Awelani Eco Park in Pafuri, in the far north eastern corner of South Africa – “Don’t you wish you were here. All welcome.”
DoringDraad DeBen / Dibeng in the Kalahari – “Doing our thing to support the Bokke. We have a Donkeycart Derby and afterwards everybody will join to watch this game…Good Luck to SA People and the Bokke!! #Springbokke”
UNITED KINGDOM
There’s only one other place most South Africans would wish they could be – Twickenham! Anastasia Maubane – “Me and my friends will be taking a trip down to Twickenham to watch the match with other South African supporters at the Fanzone.”
Zanele Zulu – “I am ready with my ‘Weapons’ Wales! Here we come. It’s a bit cold so my SA blanket will come in handy. Up the Bokke, Amabhokobhoko.”
