WATCH Rondebosch Boys’ High School stand in solidarity against women abuse
This week Rondebosch Boys’ High School learners were invited to wear black on Thursday – ‘Honouring Nene Day’ (in honour of UCT student Uyinene Mrwetyana who was raped and murdered at the Post Office on Saturday 24 August) – as a show of support against gender based violence.
The School said: “In the past month our community has seen a rise in several incidents of violence against women in the form of abductions, rape, sex trafficking and murder. It has now reached an alarming level where the women in our lives feel afraid and vulnerable.
“As a community of men, we feel that it’s time for our voices to be heard. Whilst we recognise that the solution is complex, we feel that a show of solidarity is important. We want to make our support visible and give a voice for our collective outrage.”
As an institution which aims to set the development of good men, the entire school stood together to line Campground Road in silent protest. #Enoughisenough Watch here:

One mother told SAPeople her son made his poster last night. “I so respect him! They did a wonderful march in silence today along with a local girls’ school.”
The boys handed over their hand-written messages of support to representatives from Rustenburg Girls High school.
