South African Minister of Police Bheki Cele and National Police Commissioner Kehla Sitole have on Friday morning officially launched a SAPS anti-corruption strategy.

Several police officers and stakeholders were joined at the Tshwane Police Academy for the launch.

Sitole said: “A professional police organisation needs to be free of any corruption. If you love your country you’ll always make sure there is no corruption.

“Our national development plan requires police to be professional and present a high level of honestly.”

SAPS said the Anti-Corruption Strategy reflects the commitment of SAPS’ management to enhancing its ethics and Code of Conduct.

Sitole said: “Let us join hands and fight corruption together.”

The National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (also known as Hawks), Lieutenant Gen SG Lebeya also delivered a message of support at the launch.

Cele was the keynote speaker.
