South African Expat: My African American Themed Wedding!

You know you’re proudly South African when you get married with your country’s flag around you on your wedding day! South African expat ‎Dominique G Baptiste‎, who now lives in Florida in the USA, did just that when she got married at the end of last year.

“I am a proud South African! Born and raised… many family braais and dirty feet days!

“I played outside until the sun moved on to warm other places, and the moon came to light the dark skies,” writes Dominique.

“We could play krieket under the street lights and play hide and go seek with kids on our street! With family members and friends scattered all over Africa… it’s my home, my roots go deep!

“My heart goes out to everyone in Africa! The things I’ve been seeing and hearing on social media… breaks my heart! No one should be living in fear!

“My PRAYER and WISH for South Africa’s rainbow nation… is that all of this will come to an end and everyone can get along! Live alongside one another happily and peacefully!

“P.S. I met my husband on Facebook… He opened his heart and allowed this small town girl, with a Dutchy accent to crawl right in there!!!”
