When you move abroad, it can be challenging to make your dreams come true… without your normal network of friends and family, trying to navigate your life through a set of new unfamiliar rules to those we know back home in South Africa.
And so congratulations are due to South African expat Anastassia Angel who has persevered to graduate today and make her dreams come true in the United Kingdom.
Knowing how many South Africans abroad would relate, Anastassia proudly sent her happy news to SAPeople:
“I do not normally post on here – but, as South Africans, you can understand my journey…
“Due to a variety of reasons, I was unable to go to Uni in SA. When my husband (Tim Lovell) and I moved to the UK in 2002, I find out I was pregnant with my first baby, which was a shock as I was told that I could never have babies!
“In 2004, I decided to study through the Open University as I wanted to teach primary school.
“I then had another three children and had to take a few years break in 2007.
“Today I finally graduate as a newly qualified teacher and in September will be teaching my first class!!”
Congratulations to Anastassia… and the lucky class in Poole, Dorset, that she will be teaching.
