It’s what drought-stricken Cape Town has been waiting for… welcome rain to fill its dams. In the last couple of days, videos of water rushing into Theewaterskloof Dam have started flooding social media, as thrilled Capetonians watch their main source of drinking water finally getting replenished…
According to Meteo Cape Town, Theewaterskloof Dam received almost 70mm of rain between midnight on Thursday night and Friday morning. 69.6mm to be exact. See below:
On Thursday the MEC for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell, reported that “most major dams in the Western Cape are showing slight increases” this week – the Voëlvlei Dam increased from 14.2 to 16.6 %, the Theewaterskloof Dam went from 11.8 to 14.7 % and the Bergriver Dam from 37 to 42%.
