South African superstar Master KG, the man behind the global hit “Jerusalema“, recently met up with the award-winning Ghetto Kids in Jinja, Uganda. The Ghetto Kids have become famous worldwide with millions watching their viral videos. The meeting was arranged by Uganda’s songstress Sheebah who started her career as a dancer.
Interestingly, Master KG revealed: “I make all these big tunes that people go crazy too, yet myself, I cannot dance.”
African Dance impacting the world
The dancers, including Master KG’s dance team, and musicians discussed the impact of African Dance on the globe and how viral videos literally changed their lives. They taught each other dance moves and had a great time together.

The meet-up was part of MAMA (MTV Africa Music Awards) Kampala 2021. MAMA aims to encourage international artists to exchange ideas, cultures and skills. This year’s production from Uganda will benefit internships, job shadowing opportunities and skills exchange workshops.
Master KG was in Uganda as part of a film shoot for the upcoming MTV Base program “Road to MAMA”, a three-part show, leading up to the MAMA Kampala 2021 main show, that will air on 16 January, 30 January and on 13 February, showcasing the beauty of the country, in partnership with Uganda, known as ‘the Pearl of Africa’.
Master KG is nominated in two categories at the MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021. Next to being nominated in the Best Male category, he will face stiff competition as possible Artist of the Year, namely Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage and Wizkid from Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe’s Calema, and Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania.
