It’s been the second race of the year… and it brings the second victory for Red Bull Hard Enduro Racer, South African Wade Young.
Wade has scored two wins at the Extreme Peyratoise in France which took place during the past weekend. He started early in the morning with two laps in icy conditions and spent more than six hours on the bike and finished in the night. The race has a 4am start, 8pm finishe and a “whole lot of French Classic Enduro in between”.
The second edition of the Extreme Peyratoise this year saw the second win of the season on French soil for Wade after his win at Ales Trem. The Sherco Factory pilot took a comfortable victory, 12 minutes clear of second placed Antoine Basset and Sherco teammate Mario Roman 20 minutes back in third. Young said:
“A perfect day for me at Peyratoise Extreme, starting with the 2 specials early in the morning with the icy conditions, finishing 2nd with the 2 specials combined. The main event in the afternoon I got off to a good start and found a good rhythm and pushed all the way to the end. Happy with my performance and felt good with the bike. Great way to start the year with 2 wins!”
Wade (26) has been on a good roll – he won the 2022 Roof of Africa in November, which was a remarkable fifth victory in a row, and seventh overall. In 2012, the sportsman from KwaZulu-Natal became the youngest racer to win the iconic motorbike enduro race.
Wade’s mantra is: “To accomplish great things we must not only act but also dream, not only plan but also believe.”
