South African Police Service (SAPS) officers have reached into their hearts and wallets to make a dream come true for a young 21-year-old cancer victim from Helenvale.
The youngster – who matriculated from Chapman High School – has always dreamed of attending his matric farewell…
When SAPS Gelvandale heard of his plight and financial situation, the members rallied together and organised a beautiful suit (complete with all the accessories), a car so that he could be driven to the event, as well as cash to help make his fairy tale dream come true.
And it did… the brave youngster was able to attend his matric farewell at Boardwalk in Port Elizabeth on Thursday evening, 26 April 2018, thanks to the generosity of the police members.
His family was so appreciative of their kind gesture, and the humble young man was “over the moon”.
SAPS said: “Good deeds such as this can only generate positive energy to any person who cannot control what life throws at them… however we can control the way we handle it.
“Thank you to the Station Commander and members of SAPS Gelvandale for giving hope to this cancer victim because in times like these they need to be around people who inspire, challenge and make them feel better.”
SAPS said: “Sometimes when life deals a nasty blow it is often in the darkest skies that we see the brightest stars…”
