Here’s sportmanship at its best – two tough rugby players setting a great example. The Sharks’ Willie Le Roux and Highlanders’ Jason Emery… after the horrendous tackle on Friday in New Zealand.
Jason tweeted to Willie: “again, just want 2 apologise for what happened 2night. I’m just thankful u came out of that collision ok & continued 2 play on.”
Willie replied: “bro, all part of the game we love. all the best to you and the team for the rest of the tournament.”
The Sharks scored an incredible, morale-boosting 15-14 victory over the Highlanders in Dunedin on Friday.
Just 12 minutes into the match, Willie was taken out by Jason with a shoulder in the air which the referee called “a very dangerous act of foul play”. Miraculously the South African was able to continue playing, although Jason was shown the red card… leaving the Highlanders limited to just 14 players for the remainder of the game.
