Irish pop singer Ronan Keating has teamed up with Kiwi child actor Julian Dennison to deliver one of this season’s finest summer-related Christmas carols!
The carol – Summer Wonderland – is a brilliantly disguised advert for Air New Zealand. The airline said: “Finally a festive tune we can get behind here in the Southern Hemisphere, where the pavs [traditional pavlova pudding] are a-plenty, the sun’s a-shining and the bros are a-glistening. ? Cheers Ronan Keating and Julian Dennison ??”
It is a fantastic festive tune… although not the first in the southern hemisphere, where people have long had enough of singing about the cold and the snow… whilst sweltering in the heat! Every good Aussie – and South African expat living in Australia – belts out Aussie Jingle Bells around this time (watch video below – with the best lyrics ever if you understand Aussie slang!); and even in South Africa we have our own SA-flavoured ’12 Days of Christmas‘.
